hydrolics

Postby juddshowhorses » Thu Jan 21, 2010 8:00 pm

OK I have a yanmar 1700, the hydrolics quit working, down and won't go up, according to the tech help since the front loader nor the 3 pt work it is either the fluid/filter bad or pump has been dead headed. We changed out the fluid and the filter was clean. Yes used JD303.
What does it mean the pump was dead headed?? and what needs to be done to fix?

If yours has a spin-on external hydraulic filter that you changed, did you fill the filter with fluid before installing?

Most likely something has happened to the pump. You will just need to take it off & check it for damage. Fix or replace if necessary.

The 1700 does not have a spin on filter.

I noticed on my 2610 that the hydraulics respond verrrrry slooowwwly or not at all when the implement lever is in the full-up position.

Brian, If it happens without a heavy attachment on the hitch, the usual steps would be to look to the position of the hitch stop-valve (in the seat area), hyd/trans fluid type and level and filter(s), the linkage from the control back, remove and test the hitch looking for a defective seal or similar. I take it you don't have a front loader.
