Gearbox fluid type

Next question to the forum, in the YM2010D tractor where is the hydrolic fluid resevoir? What fluid goes into the gearbox below where you sit? I unscrewed the cap and it looked like the great abyss in there! Thanks always for the help!

Might be low on fluid. Needs combo hydraulic-transmission fluid. After draining, replace the external spin-on if so equipped, and clean the internal filter.

Are you saying there is no dipstick? If not, you will need one.

The hyd-fluid stick often comes out of the underside of the cap (to the bottom of the reservoir but I've not heard of them damaging gear teeth on the way down). But the correct hyd level is not an exact one like engine oil, especially if you have extra implements like a front loader.

If you can see the uppermost gear, at least the lower part should be submerged. Leave headspace (expansion room) of several inches. Anywhere between those two extremes will be the right level.
