If neither wheels or pto turns it has to be clutch, or in main drive shaft going to pto. Assuming this came on all at once clutch adjustment wouldn't seem to be an issue, but, is your free play correct on your clutch? Does the clutch feel same as day before mishap? From there it could be a splined coupling broken or anything in the main drive line. I'm wondering if on the 1500 you can remove the fill plug on the transmission and see the drive line or possibly any other openings. If so might engage pto and observe to see anything turning in transmission. May not be able to do that, just thinking outloud.

Thanks winston, yes it came on all of a sudden. the tractor ran fine the day before.. started it up today and shifted into gear and then nothing.. no pop or noise of any kind... then proceeded to check pto and it would not come on.. do you know of any online diagrams of 1500 2wd transmissions to look at before we tear into it??? we are going to look at it a little closer in the morning.. thanks for your help again, jeff

Could be the clutch-pedal linkage. Or, especially if it's a PowerShift with a floor range selector, sometimes the latter has gotten unknowingly nudged into neutral.

Yep, normally I would think the Hi/Lo lever was knocked out of gear, but if no PTO, I think it has to be the clutch or main drive line/coupling. No power shift, and can't see any way the clutch linkage could suddenly disengage the clutch. You can probably look in the dipstick hole, or even put in neutral and remove the shifter cover and look for movement.
