lifting capacity

do you know what the lifting capacity of the three point on a 2310D is, will it lift a round hay bail ?

I don't know the lift capacity of a 2310 but I do on a 226. It is 1168#s at lower link end and 816#s at 24" behind lower link end. In East Texas round bales vary in weight. I don't believe the 2310 is enough machine to handle round bales on a daily basis. Just an opinion, haven't seen one try.

Not familiar with that model, but expect it's similar to the 226. When new, it likely lifted beyond design specs but not after 30 years. And without a loader or ballast on the front it would be back-heavy.

As Winston pointed out, there are two pieces of information that go together to determine whether it will work or not. It's the weight of the bale (or whatever you are picking up) and the distance from the back of the tractor. If you change the distance (make longer), the lifting force will decrease. Also, it's the distance to the load center of gravity (not to the edge of the load).
